DESCRIPTION:Please join the City of Fayetteville\, U of A Dept. of Biological Sciences\, Beaver Watershed Alliance & Pack Rat Outdoor Center for a fun morning of stewardship activities as we wrap up the fall volunteer season at Lake Wilson!  Volunteers have been focused on removing invasive bush honeysuckle from the riparian areas around Lake Wilson and are making great headway in the effort to prevent this plant from spreading further throughout the park. This event will be focused on continuing these efforts\, though we will have a few litter cleanup supplies for those who would like to assist in cleaning up the park and surrounding county roads. (Tools and supplies provided for all volunteer activities\, please wear closed-toe shoes.) \nAgenda: The morning will start with pastries and coffee\, followed by the volunteer activities.\nRSVPs are appreciated! DESCRIPTION:Please join the City of Fayetteville and Beaver Watershed Alliance in our effort to preserve the beauty of Lake Sequoyah by helping clean up litter around the lake and along the Middle Fork of the White River! \nKickoff & Supplies:Meet at the boat launch (6608 Lake Sequoyah Drive\, Fayetteville\, AR 72701). Event will start with light snacks and volunteer location assignments\, and will wrap up with giveaways! Middle Fork landowners are invited to pick up supplies and drop off litter at Lake Sequoyah. \nAll cleanup supplies provided; please wear muck/water boots if you’ve got them. \n\n\nTwo ways to help:CLEAN UP ON FOOT:Volunteers will spread out to pick up litter along the river\, shorelines\, roads and trails throughout the park. \nCLEAN UP BY BOAT:We are looking for paddlers with boats to help us get to the shoreline trash that can’t be reached on foot. (Paddlers will be given a long-sleeve UPF shirt as a thank you for bringing out a boat!) Jon boats are also welcome. \n\n\n\n\nWeather:We’ll work in light rain\, but may delay for thunder or lightning. In the case of heavy\, persistent rain we may postpone or cancel the event. SUMMARY:West Fork White River Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:The Beaver Watershed Alliance (Alliance) and multiple community partners will host the 18th Annual West Fork White River Cleanup on Saturday\, November 4th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm as part of the Northwest Arkansas Community clean up initiative\, Pick Up Where You Play. Volunteers will help remove litter and bulky waste in the West Fork watershed\, a sub-watershed of Beaver Lake. This cleanup will not only beautify trail and streamside areas in our community but will also keep trash from entering Beaver Lake\, the source of Northwest Arkansas’ drinking water. \nVolunteers can check in at Riverside Park in West Fork. There will be multiple cleanup locations ranging from trail\, land\, and in-stream. Cleanup supplies will be provided at check-in and volunteers will be assigned to a cleanup site. After the cleanup\, volunteers are invited to Riverside Park for raffle prizes and snacks. As part of the Pick Up Where You Play initiative\, all participants 18 and up will also be entered to win the grand prize of a two-night stay and float trip for four on the Elk River in Missouri! \nThis event is made possible by support from Beaver Water District\, Boston Mountain Solid Waste\, American Electric Power Foundation\, H2Ozarks\, Keep Arkansas Beautiful\, Gracie’s Canoe Club\, Tegna Foundation\, Cargill Cares\, University of Arkansas Extension\, and the Watershed Conservation Resource Center. \nLocation: Meet at Riverside Park in West Fork for supplies\, then head to a designated cleanup area with a site leader. Volunteers will help remove litter and bulky waste in the West Fork watershed\, sub-watershed of Beaver Lake. Check-in will begin at 9 am to receive cleanup supplies and a cleanup site. Return to Riverside park by noon for music\, food (vegetarian options will be available)\, and raffle prizes! \nWhat is provided: Gloves\, tools\, water\, snacks\, and cleanup supplies will be provided at check-in. Free lunch and raffle prizes will also be provided. \nWhat to bring/wear: Dress in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty!
