SUMMARY:Speaker Series: Unpaved Roads- Efforts in Arkansas
DESCRIPTION:Join the Alliance for our Quarterly Speaker Series! Kevin McGaughey with Arkansas Natural Resources Division (ANRD)\, and Clay Word with The Nature Conservancy (TNC) will be presenting on “Unpaved Roads – Efforts in Arkansas” \n85% of Arkansas roads are unpaved and can contribute significant amounts of sediment- the #1 pollutant in the Beaver Lake Watershed\, into our waterways. Learn from an Arkansas Natural Resources Division specialist about how the Arkansas Unpaved Roads Grant Program (AURP) functions\, helps counties in practical ways economically and can help improve water quality. \nA specialist from TNC will also present on the importance of stream barrier remediation in the Interior Highlands. TNC will discuss the benefits to water quality\, conservation\, and infrastructure that barrier remediation can provide using three different projects of varying size and scope as examples. Project management considerations and lessons learned from each project will also be presented. \nRegistration is required. This speaker series will be free and held on Zoom. A live Q & A will follow the presentation. The presentation will be recorded and uploaded on Alliance YouTube. \nClick here to register.
