SUMMARY:West Fork White River Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:The Beaver Watershed Alliance (Alliance) and multiple community partners will host the 18th Annual West Fork White River Cleanup on Saturday\, November 4th from 1:00 – 3:00 pm as part of the Northwest Arkansas Community clean up initiative\, Pick Up Where You Play. Volunteers will help remove litter and bulky waste in the West Fork watershed\, a sub-watershed of Beaver Lake. This cleanup will not only beautify trail and streamside areas in our community but will also keep trash from entering Beaver Lake\, the source of Northwest Arkansas’ drinking water. \nVolunteers can check in at Riverside Park in West Fork. There will be multiple cleanup locations ranging from trail\, land\, and in-stream. Cleanup supplies will be provided at check-in and volunteers will be assigned to a cleanup site. After the cleanup\, volunteers are invited to Riverside Park for raffle prizes and snacks. As part of the Pick Up Where You Play initiative\, all participants 18 and up will also be entered to win the grand prize of a two-night stay and float trip for four on the Elk River in Missouri! \nThis event is made possible by support from Beaver Water District\, Boston Mountain Solid Waste\, American Electric Power Foundation\, H2Ozarks\, Keep Arkansas Beautiful\, Gracie’s Canoe Club\, Tegna Foundation\, Cargill Cares\, University of Arkansas Extension\, and the Watershed Conservation Resource Center. \nLocation: Meet at Riverside Park in West Fork for supplies\, then head to a designated cleanup area with a site leader. Return to Riverside Park to drop off trash and for your chance to win fun raffle prizes! \nTime: Saturday\, November 4th\, 1 – 3 pm \nDownload Flyer

SUMMARY:Land Management Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Pasture and forest landowners in the War Eagle Creek watershed are invited to a field day to learn about management practices that can improve forested and grazed lands. Practices to be covered will include ponds\, unpaved roads\, how to manage erosion\, and pasture improvement techniques. Participants will learn about practical conservation practices and how to apply for financial assistance to cover 75%\, or up to 90%\, of the cost. Technical assistance will be provided to help fill out applications for funding and set up free site visits. \nThe workshop will be held at the Spurlock Farm near Huntsville on November 15\, 2023\, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; lunch will be provided at no cost. \nBeaver Watershed Alliance is working with event partners\, including USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Services\, USDA-Farm Service Agency\, and additional sponsorship provided by Beaver Water District and Cargill Cares. \nThe Land Management Field Day is a program in conjunction with the War Eagle Creek Watershed Initiative (WECWI) Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP)\, funded by the US Department of Agriculture-Natural Resources Conservation Services. Over $2 million in funding is dedicated to landowners in the War Eagle watershed to improve land and water resources. War Eagle Creek contributes 1/3 of the water supplies to Beaver Lake\, our region’s drinking water source. The RCPP program started in 2023 and will go through 2027; however\, funding is limited\, and landowners are encouraged to start the application process now. \nPlease RSVP by emailing info@beaverwatershedalliance.org or calling 479-750-8007. \n
