SUMMARY:April Arkansas Water Webinar: Removing Trash from our Waterways
DESCRIPTION:Removing Trash from our Waterways Webinar \nThursday\, April 17\, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (Virtual) \nIt is estimated that 1 to 2 million tons of plastic enter the oceans annually from rivers. Rivers are major conduits of trash\, including plastic waste\, into oceans. This waste poses a significant threat to drinking water quality\, as it can introduce pollutants\, bacteria\, and viruses that contaminate water sources\, leading to potential health risks. Trash capture technologies have been developed to remove trash from waterways. In this panel discussion\, we will hear from several organizations implementing this technology in Arkansas and the messages they are spreading to preserve water quality that is suitable for drinking\, agricultural use\, and recreation for future generations. \nSPEAKERS: \nReed Green\, AR Master Naturalists\nBrian Nalley\, Saline River Watershed Alliance\nMichael Sacomani\, Saline River Watershed Alliance\nCowper Chadbourn\, Arkansas Canoe Club\nDebbie Doss\, Arkansas Canoe Club \nREGISTRATION: https://uada.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Nf5R2TiZQTqSTFFbFu8OHQ \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. We look forward to seeing you there!
