SUMMARY:Low-Tech Tailgate Talk
DESCRIPTION:Low-Tech Tailgate Talk: Reducing Erosion with Materials from your Own Landscape \n\n\nLearn how to prevent erosion and improve your land with simple\, low-cost solutions! \n\n\nHeavy rains can carve channels through fields and pastures\, washing away valuable soil and changing the landscape. This workshop will show participants how simple low-tech erosion control (LTEC) structures can protect their land\, restore natural water flow\, and improve water quality—all without the need for heavy machinery or high costs. After the presentation\, participants will take a short walk to view several LTEC structures already installed on site and see first-hand how these methods slow water\, capture sediment\, and restore natural landscape. Lunch will be provided at no cost. RSVP required! \n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\nDaniel Hagood\, Sr. Ecologist\, Beaver Watershed Alliance \n\n\nLarry Berry\, Program Director\, Beaver Watershed Alliance \nAlliance staff will be available afterward to answer questions and help you sign up for a free Low-Tech Erosion Control Plan for your property. Funding is available to assist with installation. \nThe workshop will be taking place in Huntsville\, approximately one mile north of Walmart. RSVP for the address. \nTo RSVP\, email daniel@beaverwatershedalliance.org or text/call 479-750-8007

SUMMARY:Conservation Easement Workshop for War Eagle Landowners
DESCRIPTION:Our friends at the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust are hosting a free workshop on December 13th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Hobbs State Park Conservation Area Visitor Center in Rogers. This workshop will introduce landowners in the War Eagle watershed to the concept of conservation easements\, emphasizing their flexibility and long-term benefits. Conservation easements are powerful tools that allow landowners to permanently protect the conservation values of their land\, such as water quality\, wildlife habitat\, working lands\, or scenic views\, while retaining full ownership and use of the property within the terms of the agreement. \nAttendees will learn how easements can be tailored to fit the unique characteristics of their land and personal goals\, whether those include ongoing agricultural use\, forestry\, or natural habitat restoration. NWALT will emphasize how easements can safeguard a landowner’s investments in stewardship and restoration in perpetuity\, ensuring that their legacy and conservation values are honored for generations to come. \nThrough a presentation and a case study of an existing NWALT conservation easement\, participants will gain a clear understanding of the practical and legal considerations of easements and the many ways they can support both personal and community conservation goals. \nProgram / Event Schedule \n10:00 AM — Welcome and Catered Breakfast\n10:15 AM – 11:30 AM — Presentation: Introduction to Conservation Easements (Evan Johnson) \nClick HERE to sign up.
