SUMMARY:Rain Garden Design Workshop at the Mount Sequoyah Retreat Center
DESCRIPTION:The Alliance is excited to partner with the Illinois River Watershed Partnership for an interactive rain garden design workshop! Participants will receive expert guidance on rain garden design and care\, sketch out ideas for their own home gardens\, and help plant the newest rain garden on the mountain. \nIn honor of Mother’s Day\, this event is designed for the whole family with activities planned for kids and parents! While the adults learn\, children will be taken on a nature walk around the mountain designed to spark curiosity and care for the watershed. Moms and caregivers will take home a native plant of their own – a small reminder that stewardship begins by putting down roots\, one act of care at a time. \nThis event is free to attend! \nRSVPs are required. To RSVP\, visit https://www.irwp.org/events/mount-sequoyah-5-9-26 \nEmail info@beaverwatershedalliance.org or text/call 479-750-8007 with any questions.

SUMMARY:May Arkansas Water Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Register Now for the May Arkansas Water Webinar!  Register Here \nWHEN: Thursday\, May 21\, Noon- 1 p.m. \nTITLE: Land Use Impacts on Water Quality in Central Arkansas: A Three-Year Comparative Study of Urban\, Agricultural\, and Protected Drinking Water Watersheds \nAgricultural and urban expansion increasingly impacts water quality in the southeastern United States\, yet comprehensive studies comparing agricultural watersheds to other land uses are relatively rare. Understanding these different impacts is critical for targeted watershed management and protection of drinking water resources\, particularly for the growing population of nearly 500\,000 people in Central Arkansas. This study presents results from a three-year monitoring program comparing water quality across urban\, agricultural\, and protected drinking water watersheds in central Arkansas to quantify land use effects and identify priority management areas. \nSPEAKER: Heather Black\, PhD\, Assistant Professor\, Department of Geology\, University of Arkansas\, Little Rock\, hblack@ualr.edu \nREGISTRATION:\nWebinar Registration – Zoom \nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
