SUMMARY:Conservation Easement Workshop for War Eagle Landowners
DESCRIPTION:Our friends at the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust are hosting a free workshop on December 13th from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Hobbs State Park Conservation Area Visitor Center in Rogers. This workshop will introduce landowners in the War Eagle watershed to the concept of conservation easements\, emphasizing their flexibility and long-term benefits. Conservation easements are powerful tools that allow landowners to permanently protect the conservation values of their land\, such as water quality\, wildlife habitat\, working lands\, or scenic views\, while retaining full ownership and use of the property within the terms of the agreement. \nAttendees will learn how easements can be tailored to fit the unique characteristics of their land and personal goals\, whether those include ongoing agricultural use\, forestry\, or natural habitat restoration. NWALT will emphasize how easements can safeguard a landowner’s investments in stewardship and restoration in perpetuity\, ensuring that their legacy and conservation values are honored for generations to come. \nThrough a presentation and a case study of an existing NWALT conservation easement\, participants will gain a clear understanding of the practical and legal considerations of easements and the many ways they can support both personal and community conservation goals. \nProgram / Event Schedule \n10:00 AM — Welcome and Catered Breakfast\n10:15 AM – 11:30 AM — Presentation: Introduction to Conservation Easements (Evan Johnson) \nClick HERE to sign up.

SUMMARY:Mapping Flood Risk Across the Beaver Lake Watershed: Free Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Join us and our partners on April 30th from 9 – 10 AM for a kickoff webinar introducing a new flood modeling project for the Beaver Lake watershed. This effort will develop a two-dimensional model to better understand how stormwater moves across the landscape and identify areas most vulnerable to flooding. During this session\, we’ll share the project’s goals\, approach\, and how it builds on existing data and local knowledge. We’ll also discuss how the model will support watershed planning and lead to the development of a user-friendly mapping tool. \nThis free webinar is an opportunity to learn about the project\, ask questions\, and hear how this work can help inform future planning and flood resilience efforts across the watershed.
