SUMMARY:U of A Make a Difference Day: Litter Removal at Mullins Creek
DESCRIPTION:Help remove litter from Mullins Creek on the U of A Campus! Volunteers will work alongside the Watershed Conservation Resource Center Riparian Restoration team and Beaver Watershed Alliance to remove litter and help care for this important on-campus restoration site.  Volunteers will need to bring/wear closed-toed shoes\, long pants\, pre-filled water bottles\, sunscreen\, and bug spray (if desired). \nPlease RSVP on GivePulse: \n \n  \n  \nThis event will be held at Lot 320 at coordinates 36.057900\, -94.177288. We will walk there together from the 8 AM MADD breakfast at the Union Mall and take the bus back up to the main campus area. DESCRIPTION:Communications for Conservation\nFriday\, December 4 | 9:00-5:00\nRegister Here! \nEffective conservation depends on more than good science— it depends on connecting with people in ways that inspire action. This interactive workshop combines conservation communications strategy with hands-on workshopping to strengthen participants’ communication\, outreach\, and public engagement skills to further conservation and restoration efforts. Workshop hosted by the Illinois River Watershed Partnership. \nParticipants will explore some psychology of communication and behavior change\, examining the research behind what motivates people to act and how to craft messages that move audiences from awareness to long-term stewardship. Through practical exercises\, participants will learn to identify and research target audiences\, frame messages for landowners\, elected officials\, funders\, volunteers\, students\, and the general public\, and develop compelling elevator pitches and audience-specific calls to action. \nFor more information and to register\, please visit IRWP’s website. \n \nThis workshop qualifies as an Elective Workshop for the Conservation Training Program.
