Staff and Board

The Beaver Watershed Alliance was formed in 2011 to establish programming to maintain high-quality drinking water in Beaver Lake and improve water quality on the Beaver Lake Watershed. The Alliance represents a diverse stakeholder group from conservation, education, water utilities, technical and science, business, agriculture, recreation, and local government groups working together for the cause of clean water.

Becky Roark

Becky Roark joined the Beaver Watershed Alliance in December 2016. She holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas and has worked within the water quality and conservation fields in the Northwest Arkansas region since 2010. Becky has experience in directing and developing community programs for the non-profit sector and has a technical background to help communities with both watershed management and the advancement of watershed protection initiatives.

She is passionate about cultivating partnerships for watershed education and protection, as well as dedicated to protecting and improving the quality of Beaver Lake and its watershed, including its natural and cultural resources. Becky also serves on the Fayetteville Natural Heritage Association Board, Friends of Hobbs State Park Board, enjoys kayaking and smallmouth bass fishing and spends time outdoors with her family. Outreach Coordinator

Anna Gwaltney

Anna joined the Beaver Watershed Alliance in March 2021 as the Outreach Coordinator. She holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Arkansas, where she most enjoyed learning about graphic design, conservation, and sustainability. After graduating, she worked as an environmental steward fellow with the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program at the Buffalo National River. Senior Ecologist

Daniel Hagood

Daniel joined the Beaver Watershed Alliance in May 2021. He holds an undergraduate degree in Environmental, Soil, and Water Science with a minor in Wildlife Habitat from the University of Arkansas and a graduate degree in Environmental Science from Florida Atlantic University, where he completed his thesis research on the effects of prescribed fire and feral swine soil disturbance on the spread of invasive plants. After graduating from the University of Arkansas, Daniel worked in NW Arkansas as a fish ecology technician, where he monitored water quality and fish populations. After graduating from Florida Atlantic University, he worked as a fisheries and wildlife ecologist on a 400,000-acre tribal reservation in the Florida Everglades. In the Everglades, Daniel carried out various projects, such as leading the Burmese python control program, white-tailed deer research program, and monitoring endangered and threatened species. He loves hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

Larry Berry

Larry Berry joined the Beaver Watershed Alliance in November 2022. Larry has worked in Environmental Science and Resource Conservation since 2008 in and around Northwest Arkansas. He holds a master’s degree in Crop, Soil, and Environmental Science and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Soil and Water Science from the University of Arkansas. Larry has experience designing and installing natural stream design restoration projects and implementing and monitoring the efficacy of agricultural best management practices. His career has centered around working on private and public landscape initiatives aimed at protecting and enhancing soil and water natural resources.

Urban Watershed Specialist

Emily Finley

Emily joined the Beaver Watershed Alliance in April 2023. She holds a degree in Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University and a Master’s Degree in Resiliency Design from the University of Arkansas. Emily is passionate about sustainable design that connects people with the natural environment around them and is excited about the work the Alliance does to further that conversation. Formerly, she worked as a research assistant for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, as a landscape designer, and as a project designer at a civil engineering firm. In her spare time, Emily enjoys gardening, reading, crocheting, traveling, and playing with her Doberman, Roxy.

Watershed Specialist

Kindle Hon

Kindle joined the Beaver Watershed Alliance in March 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Florida State University and is currently working towards a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Arkansas. Kindle’s master’s thesis focuses on understanding the potential controls on bedrock valley widening in the Buffalo River, AR. She is passionate about riverine geomorphology and how understanding the processes that shape our rivers and streams can help us better manage our watershed. Kindle’s hobbies include hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and gardening.

Intern

Chad Chamberlain

Chad is joining the Alliance as an intern as part of his studies in Landscape Architecture at the University of Arkansas. His passions in this field of study include sustainability, environmental revitalization, and bioremediation techniques. As an Arkansas native, he spent much of his life exploring the diversity of waterways throughout the state. His enjoyment of these natural resources has resulted in a desire to see them stay clean and healthy for future generations.
