Karst in Our Backyard: Learning & Field Day
Join the Beaver Watershed Alliance and the Nature Conservancy on Saturday, October 17th from 10 AM to 12:00 PM, to learn how practical land management with native plant riparian buffers protects your land, clean water, and unique karst wildlife! We will spend the morning focusing on Ozarks landscape and wildlife education, riparian buffer design, and native tree planting. This workshop is free to attend with lunch included! What We’ll Cover:
- Karst is All Around Us: Understanding Ozark springs, sinkholes, and underground water flow.
- Why Karst Needs Protection: How surface activities affect underground aquifers and drinking water.
- Habitat Above & Below: Supporting specialized karst and cave wildlife with native vegetation.
- Hands-On Demonstration: Interactive native tree planting for on-site riparian buffer.
Mike Slay from the Nature Conservancy will be joining us as a special guest speaker.
