Join us to celebrate Lakes Appreciation Month! On Thursday, July 16th, beginning at 6 pm, a special guest speaker will share some of the fascinating history of the Beaver Lake watershed including its lakes, rivers, and construction. The all-ages free event will be held at the Hobbs State Park Visitor’s Center from 6-7 pm (20201 AR-12, Rogers, AR). Free snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Alan Bland, retired Beaver Lake Army Corps of Engineers Ranger, worked on the lake for decades. He will present on how Beaver Lake came to be, the intricacies of building the lake (or reservoir as this presentation will teach you!), and the benefits it continues to provide us every day.

Hobbs State Park offers free kayak tours throughout July. You can spend some time paddling on Beaver Lake while guided by a park interpreter. The guide will cover the basics of paddling. All equipment is provided. Space is limited to 10 people. Bring a water bottle, insect repellent, flashlight, and wear water shoes. Minimum age 9. NO charge for this event. Registration is required by 5 p.m. the day before the tour. Call (479) 789-5000. During July, kayak tour participants will receive a complimentary gift from Beaver Watershed Alliance and Beaver Water District as a thank you for celebrating Lakes Appreciation Month on Beaver Lake. Visit the Friends of Hobbs State Park website or click Here for more information and the schedule.
Lakes Appreciation Month is an annual campaign in July, with partners across Arkansas working together to raise awareness of the value and importance of our local lakes and reminds us all where we would be without them.
