This project aimed to provide cost sharing and technical assistance to improve pastureland quality and address the issue of Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) waste storage as part of the Upper White River Watershed strategy plan. Litter stacking sheds were constructed, poultry litter went through alum treatment, and BMPs such as alternative water facilities, pasture and hay land planting, cross fencing, and stream bank protection were implemented. The collaborators of this project include the Madison County Conservation District, the Boone County Conservation District, the Carroll County Conservation District, the Upper White River Basin Foundation, and the James River Watershed Alliance. This project was completed in 2007.
